AU REVOIR
Creation 2020
The title refers to a sense of hope and sadness. Saying farewell means that you don't know if and when you will meet again. You don't know if you've come to an end.
« In Au Revoir, the dancers move between three worlds: one dark, one human and one spiritual. The creation encompasses fighting spirit and astonishing illusions. Our starting point was to work on the theme of borders, the different forms of barriers. If our goal is usually to show beauty, this time the theme and the music brought us to a dark, heavy and rather aggressive place. This creation was a new and quite frightening place for us as choreographers too. Confronted for the first time with an institution as vast and complex as GoteborgsOperan, only with contemporary dancers, we were able to take our art where we had never been before. We found ourselves in a place of creation where we felt a little insecure, which also allowed us to challenge our creativity and try new things. »Honji Wang and Sébastien Ramirez
